It’s our joy to introduce you to Stephanie Freemyer, our new Children’s Ministry Director!
Stephanie comes to us from College Wesleyan Church in Indiana, where she’s served for the last ten years as their Children’s Ministry Director. (Prior to that, she served at a PCA church in Pasadena and as a public-school educator.) She loves Jesus and children deeply and views her call as that of a long-term children’s ministry director. She’s got a vision for deep discipleship rooted in play and fun and a heart for outreach. In Stephanie’s words:
“I believe deeply in the sacred and essential work of children’s ministry—not just as a place to ‘teach’ or ‘entertain’ kids, but as a vital space where the youngest (and as Jesus reminds us, the greatest) among us encounter the transforming love of God. When we join children in their wonder, honor their questions, and listen with them for God’s voice, we’re participating in something powerful—both for today and for eternity.”
Our search team was blown away by Stephanie and her passion for children’s ministry, her creativity and ideas, her belief in the role of families in faith formation, and in her ability to recruit and train volunteer leaders. She’s a nationally recognized leader in children’s ministry and will be a huge asset to our family ministry team.
Stephanie is married to Daniel, who’s a pastor and Bible scholar. They’re the proud parents of two incredible boys, Tait and Lucan, who fill their lives with energy, questions, and laughter. They’re thrilled to be expecting baby boy #3 this November!
Stephanie and her family will be introduced in worship on Sunday, July 13. We’ll also host two different gatherings for children’s ministry families to get to know her more, first on Wednesday, July 23 from 6-8 pm and then on Thursday, August 14 from 5-7 pm. Stay tuned for more information.
