The Grace of God and the Realities of Sin

Imagine you take your car into a mechanic, and he gives your car a pep talk. “You’re a good vehicle who is doing the best you can. You are good enough, you are smart enough, and doggone it, people like you. Now get back out there and run, run, run!”

That would be wildly disappointing, and you probably would not find that kind of service worth paying for. When something is broken, the only hope is for a clear diagnosis and an intervention or corrective action that fixes the problem.

The same is true for human beings; unless we are honest about what is wrong, we have little chance of experiencing redemption. In this sermon series we are going to look at something that is unpopular and can be uncomfortable; the realities of sin. But in confronting sin honestly and recognizing the realities of our brokenness, we are opened to experiencing fully the redemptive grace and salvation of Jesus Christ. The pathway to healing runs through a clear diagnosis of the problem.
