Adult Ed resumes January 12 with “Fantasy Story and Faith: C.S.Lewis, Tolkien, George MacDonald”

Join us for a special 3-class series led by Drs. Crystal and David Downing. With deep knowledge of their subjects, the Downings will provide a fascinating study of these legends of Christian thought and art, including how C.S. Lewis used fantasy as a vehicle for communicating his Christian vision of reality, and the similarities, differences and impact of Lewis, Tolkien, George MacDonald and Dorothy Sayers.

Class Teachers, Drs. Crystal and David Downing are the Co-directors of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College. Both graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara; Crystal earned her PhD in English at UC, Santa Barbara, while David got his PhD from UCLA. Crystal has published several books on Dorothy Sayers and on Faith and Film; David has written several books on C. S. Lewis, plus a novel featuring Lewis, Tolkien, and their friends as characters.
