Classic Worship

When the noise of our busy lives distract us from what truly matters, time-tested rhythms of grace are a chance to realign.

This service is liturgy focused—the steady heartbeat of our liturgical practices gently nudge us to be still before God and to reorient our priorities. Our Classic worship service weaves together inspiring messages with the great legacies of our musical heritage: choirs, pipe organ, orchestra, hand bells, and the corporate singing of the great hymns of the faith.

Classic Worship

Sundays | 8:45 – 9:45 am

Sanctuary Choir

This choir leads congregational singing in the Classic service. The choir serves weekly September through May, with Thursday rehearsals at 7:30 pm. All ages are welcome, and flexible schedules are accommodated. Opportunities exist for section leaders, interns, soloists, guest conductors, composers, accompanists, and assistants with Children’s Choir.

Orchestra

On approximately a quarterly basis, the Classic service is filled with the sound of a full orchestra. Instrumental soloists and smaller ensembles such as String Quartets, Bluegrass, and “Christmas Brass” smatter the year with exciting variety.

Bell Choir

Proud of their long heritage, the bell choir shares both contemplative and joyful music each month September through May, with Thursday rehearsals at 6 pm. While basic music reading skills are required, this prayerful and fun group performs both accessible and challenging music!

Children’s Choir

Engaging children and youth on Sunday mornings is a big priority at First Pres. Periodically throughout the year, children are invited to sing in both Modern and Classic services. It’s both a joy to witness and an excellent training ground for kids to learn more about music.
