This winter as we study the life of Daniel, take note of the role that community played in his ability to demonstrate resilience. Daniel, as we will see, had others around him for support, encouragement, and accountability. He had a small group of three friends, and in a strange land these friends from Jerusalem had a safe haven in each other. We all need that.
We all need other people of faith in our lives helping us to be resilient — helping us to not give into temptation to compromise, helping us to remember God’s strength and power.
If don’t have a group of friends with whom you meet regularly to study the Bible, to encourage one another, to pray for each other, to keep one another accountable, and to be a safe haven for each other; will you commit to finding one?
First Pres offers a variety of Small Groups (Men’s, Women’s, Co-ed, Couples and Family Groups) currently meeting that do exactly these things for each other, and we are always in the process of creating more. Do not attempt to live with integrity in the midst of a hostile culture and in the midst of a global pandemic by yourself. Join a group of Jesus followers to encourage you, pray with you, grow with you and help you stay accountable. The Small Group leadership team would be happy to do whatever we can to help you find or build a group. Contact Cinda Siligmueller, Director of Adult Ministries.
