Church Family,

Behold!  Behold!

Behold what manner of love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God.  And that is what we are.

These are the words the Apostle John uses in his letter to the church to describe what God has done for us in Jesus Christ and the opportunity we have to be adopted into God’s family by being born again through faith.

John tells us that we can not only know about God, but that we can actually know God personally and live with God’s transformative power at work in us and through us.

This is the message that 280+ young people heard this week at Vacation Bible School and it is the message that we heard in the sermon on Sunday morning at First Pres. If you missed the sermon this week, you can listen to it here.

The lessons taught to the kids at Vacation Bible School are not kiddie lessons, they are the message of the Gospel; that the God who made us, came to save us, because he loves us.  Take a look at the way the young people were taught this powerful truth this week in the VBS Video here.

It was an awesome week, celebrating the awesome love of an awesome God.

After you have watched the video, I’d encourage you to ponder for just a moment (to “Behold” in the words of the Apostle) that God’s love for you is specific, and personal, and high, and long, and wide and deep.

If you have faith in Jesus Christ, you too have been adopted into God’s family and you are an embraced son or daughter of the Eternal God; the Maker of the heavens and the earth. That is something worth beholding over and over again.

Grateful to be adopted alongside you into the lavish love of God,

Chris Griggs
