Summer Mode

By June 18, 2019No Comments

This week marks the summer solstice and the official beginning of summer. At First Pres Glen Ellyn the markers of our entrance into summer are all over the place.

Literally, all over the place. 270-some kiddos are running around campus this week having a blast, learning about God’s amazing love for them, and building friendships with their volunteer leaders. Please keep the children, leaders, and parents of VBS in your prayers this week, asking God to move powerfully in their hearts to turn towards him and receive the lavish love offered in Jesus Christ.

As you are praying for VBS, a few other summer-related items to be aware of:

  • We just completed our spring sermon series this past Sunday. If you missed any of the messages from the Reluctant Missionary series, you can listen to them online here.
  • Streaming the weekly Sunday sermons is a great way to stay connected to First Pres during your summer travels.
  • This coming Sunday, June 23rd begins the summer worship schedule with one worship service at 10am.
  • Wednesday June 26th kicks off Wednesday evening worship for the summer. Join us for a casual dinner at 6:30 followed by a joyful worship service at 7:00 in the Celebration Hall (aka “Gym”). Wednesday evening worship is a great opportunity to bring a friend, meet up after work, and/or transition from the pool to dinner and worship.
  • There is still time to register for Family Camp on the shores of Lake Geneva, August 31-Sept 2. This annual tradition is an absolute blast and a great way to extend the summer one more weekend!  More information is available here.

Looking forward to a great summer together of growth, worship, fellowship and mission!
