Fall Guide 2021

Consider yourself invited to any of the programs described below. We can't wait to meet you!

Fall Sermon Series: Strength for the Journey: Psalms for the Weary Soul

As unique as each of us is, we share much in common as human beings. In this series, we will study the shape of the human heart that is revealed in the Psalms. We will discover some of our universal needs, universal fears, and universal longings. The Psalmists describe in their poetry some of the most core emotions and hunger of the human heart. We will see how God can meet us in those universal human conditions and lead us to be the true and whole human beings God has created us to be.

Junior High Ministry (TNT)

Junior High Ministry (TNT): Fall TNT registration is open!  Whether you grew up in church or have never stepped foot inside one, you are welcome at TNT! Try it once; come for the year! Join us for fun games, and a time of learning more about Jesus. Meet us inside the NE doors. Please register and complete the waivers online. TNT is on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8pm.

Grog Night: Ever wanted to see the church building filled with teenagers running around in the dark? This is an evening for laughter, loud noises, and GROG. This special event only comes 1 time a year. It is always a favorite for our Middle School students. Meet on Wednesday, October 13, from 7 to 8pm in the Northeast parking lot under the tent.

Confirmation: Confirmation is an opportunity for 8th grade students to become full members of First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn. They are asked to come to weekly meetings where no question or challenge to faith is off-limits. Our goal is to connect students to each other and the church through a 9-month intentional discipleship pathway. If you know an 8th grader with questions about faith, this is the program for them. We meet weekly starting September 12,  9-10am in room 29. Register today.

High School Ministry

High School Youth Group (FPGEY): FPGEY offers a welcoming environment specifically designed for high school students—it’s a place they can belong while trying on who they are. Here, participants have an opportunity to try on what it means to be a Jesus follower. Students hear about and discuss the person and character of Jesus reflective of the Biblical narrative, and they see how it applies to their life today. We meet on Sundays at a new time this year, 4-5:30pm in the Youth Lounge. Register now.

High School Fall Retreat: We are excited to go on our Fall Retreat from October 15-17! Join us at Stronghold Camp for an extraordinary weekend away to reconnect with our church. We’ll hear from God’s word and reflect on the movement of the Holy Spirit. This is a great weekend to make memories with friends and reset after the start of the school year. Don’t miss out on fun activities like disc golf, a challenge course, s’mores, a bonfire and more! The cost is $225. We will leave from the church on Friday at 4:30pm and return Sunday at 2:00pm. Sign up today!

Faith Builders For Women

Faith Builders begins Thursday Sept 16, 9:15 – 11:00 AM in the Gathering Place. Faith Builders is for women of all ages and stages of faith. Join us for this 10-session, video based, verse-by-verse study of the Book of Hebrews as Jen Wilkin explores how God “provided something better for us” in the person of Jesus Christ (Heb. 11:40).

Have you ever wondered how the Old Testament connects with the New Testament? In this study you will see how Jesus fulfills and completes the work of angels, prophets, priests, and ceremonial laws of the Old Testament.

Faith Builders meets weekly, beginning with large group teaching time followed by discussion in your small group. Childcare is provided. Register with Cinda Siligmueller, Director of Adult Ministries.

Grief Group

Grief Group will be offered again this Fall. It provides a place for those who grieve due to the loss of a loved one. While grief and loss is a part of each of our life journeys, the way it hits each of us is unique. The group setting will provide you with helpful resources as we engage in the issues and process of grief, but mostly it will allow you space to talk honestly about what grieving is like for you, and allow for group members to listen to and care for each other. Jonathan Hancock will facilitate the group which will be on Tuesdays evenings, starting September 28th. Please share this word with others who are grieving. If you have questions or interest please send an email to Jonathan or call the church office.
