Adult Ed

At First Presbyterian Church, we strive to provide education on the beliefs, practices and expressions of the Christian faith. Classes are designed to provide education around the three broad categories: Bible/Theology; Cultural Engagement/Spiritual Life and Marriage/Parenting.

Are you new to the faith and want to grow? Do you have questions on how to build a strong marriage? Do you want answers to the questions you have on ‘training your children on the way they should go’? (Proverbs 22:6)  Are you seeking to learn more about prayer and other spiritual practices? Do you want to learn more about living out your faith in practical ways? Plan on attending Sunday morning classes to grow in your understanding of the Faith and to learn how to live more faithfully as Christ’s disciple.

Adult Education classes are held on Sunday mornings, 10:15 to 11:00am September through May.

New Adult Education Classes Two new classes will be offered May 6 – May 20 for adults. The classes will meet 10:15 – 11:00 a.m.

The Impact of Birth Order – The oldest, the youngest, the middle, the only….does the birth order of your children have an effect on their personalities? In this class you will gain a greater understanding of the effect of birth order. This knowledge will help you learn how to best parent your child. Teacher: Pastor John Curphey, Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor

Class Two-Location: Room 43, located on Lower Level

Spiritual Formation

Your spiritual formation is strengthened by the practice of a wide variety of spiritual disciplines. Each week, a new discipline will be explored. On May 6 we will learn about:

Spiritual Direction – What is it? Is it for me – or is it only for ‘spiritual giants’? Does it involve someone else telling me ie. directing me, in my spiritual life? Why/when do people seek a spiritual director? This week’s class is led by Chris Hlinak (member of First Pres and trained spiritual director through Christos Center). Chris will provide you with an understanding about what is involved when a person meets with a spiritual director and also tell you about her experience in spiritual direction.
